Richard A. (Rick) Stack is a lawyer and Associate Professor in the School of Communication at American University. He has taught at American University since 1984 and currently is also director of the Public Communication Division, and serves as as faculty advisor for campus organizations such as the Public Relations Student Society of America and American Students Against Poverty. He has also coordinated the Honors Program for SOC.

Besides running his own public interest consulting business, he has served as a vice president at David Apter & Associates in Washington, D.C. where he created the social service division for this full service public relations firm, and was the executive director for the Capital Area Community Food Bank in
Washington, D.C.

He is a member of the Ketchum Litigation Communications Advisory Board and is active in the community with groups like the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty and the New Jersey Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

He received his Jurist Doctorate in Law from the School of Law, at the University of Missouri and a B.A. from Indiana University - Bloomington.
