Comment
This program has been around for more than 15 years. It allows K-6 students who have been identified as gifted to learn the basics of Russian conversation and vocabulary. They get 45 minutes once a week for a semester. This year the gifted and talented program is in multiple lcoations. We have been placed in schools scheduled to be demolished, so we will be moving again next year. The continuation of the Russian component is contingent upon budget issues for next year. ! |

Enrollment doubled this year and even more students have shown an interest for next year. Our school changed from block scheduling to a regular 6 period day this year. I think Russian qwould have had even more enrollment if not for the change(foreign language took the biggest hit in the loss of electives from student schedules). Outlook is uncertain for all our foreign language offerings next year due to budget cuts... |
