I teach all levels in the same room at the same time. One techniques I'm using to get students to read aloud is to use a 1 1/2" PVC pipe with an elbow pipe on each end. They can hear themselves read without disturbing anyone. The hardest part is to get guidance counselors to sign students up for Russian.

Our program begins with Russian 1 in 7th grade at Smith Middle School. They continue through grade 12, when they take Russian 6 Advanced Placement. We use the Face to Face textbook off and on, but our curriculum also consists of many culture and history units developed by our teachers. We have an exchange program with the School for Global Education in St. Petersburg. We host and travel in alternate years. Last year we celebrated 50 years of teaching Russian in Glastonbury.
