Comment
K-8 numbers are higher because of a FLEX program in the middle school. Once in high school, the numbers are more reflective of the situation in our Russian program. |

Comment
This is the first year for the Russian program. Most students are Juniors or Seniors, as the prerequisite is three years of another language. I will have 8 students in level 1 and 4 in level 2 next year. My district will cap the program at the second year, although I will have two independent study students in 2017-18. |

Comment
This Russian program is a two-year beginners level course for Pittsburgh Public School's International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. IB Russian 1 and 2 are each supposed to emulate a college-level semester of Russian study. Because the courses are strictly for 11th and 12th grade students in the IB Diploma Program, there are no plans to expand the classes beyond level two. |
